I have no idea what I’m going to do with these miniature altered tins but I did enjoy making them. Creating with no real purpose does not happen that often for me so I appreciate this time when it comes. Filling the tins with tiny baubles from thrift store finds was fun. These would look really cute as magnets but then I thought maybe I could attach them to the front of a vintage bottle… decisions, decisions, decisions. But this is what happens when I create in the middle of the night with no real purpose. I get an idea, make it then figure out what to do with it later. I’m really leaning towards attaching them to a bottle and I think I just saw the perfect bottle sitting on the top shelf of my expedite. I will let you know what I do with these in a later post. But for now, I need to prep my kits for this weekend at The Crafty Scrapper. I cannot wait to teach my vintage sampler class, Saturday morning. It’s a fun project to make.

You never know when opportunity will come knocking on your door. And I’m happy to say it came knocking on mine while I was attending CHA. This opportunity came completely out of the blue and was totally unexpected and certainly not planned. For the past 10 days (reason for my lack of blog posts) I have created into the wee hours of the morning, slept 4 or 5 hours, created all day, took a 2 hour nap, created into the wee hours of the morning and started the process all over again. In the end I created 64 items and all but 13 were chosen. Chosen for what, you might ask… well I’m now a signature designer for Blossom Bucket and I’m thrilled beyond belief. This is a new area for me since my items have not one thing to do with scrapbooking and it is just all so exciting.

I’ve wanted to break into the gift industry for a very long time and have had many a door closed but I never gave up. This does not mean I didn’t think about quiting, but when these thoughts would creep into my head I just pushed myself that much harder. Something kept telling me, “Do not give up on yourself or on those who have been by your side encouraging you all the way.” So I kept pushing and doing what felt right hoping with all those closed doors of the past one door in the future would open and open it did!

So what I have to say to all you aspiring artists… “Do not ever give up on yourself or your dreams.” No matter how many doors close and believe me I have had many close, keep trying, when you’re about to give up try and push yourself that much harder. You never know when opportunity will come knocking on YOUR door.

I cannot wait to see where this new journey takes me.

Hugs!

Each month I’ve asked a few people I know in the crafting industry to create anything they wish using my stamps, all I ask is they stay true to their style. When I asked Anabelle O’Malley if she would be a featured artist I was thrilled she said yes. Just look at what she created using the Perfumery and Fine and Dandy Stamp Sets.

The color scheme of her “Feel Better” card is gorgeous. I’m such a cream color kinda girl and when it is a cream tone on tone color scheme… gosh, I love it even more. And if you add rhinestones and glitter on top of that… well it’s serious love.

Anabelle’s “Happy Anniversary” tag is another beautiful and totally Anabelle in every way, creation. I love how she accented this tag using a beautiful button at the top. It’s a little unexpected embellishment as most put ribbon. But a button works perfectly with the gentleman from the Fine and Dandy stamp set. And stamping the clock face which is also from the Fine and Dandy stamp set onto this ornate clock embellishment is stunning.

Thank you, Anabelle for creating two beautiful items which I’m sure will inspire many.

This sweet Valentine’s Day card was created and sent to me from my Aunt Linda. I was so surprised when I opened the envelope as I don’t think I have one item from her that is handmade, so this is a true treasure. Aunt Linda retired a few years ago and lives in Florida where she fills her days with family, friends and GRANDKIDS, gosh does she ever have fun with her grandkids. But NOW it looks like some of her time is filled creating cards and I must say her choice in stamps is fabulous. And it really made me happy to see she even used GLITTER.

Thank you, Aunt Linda. I love you.

And I have to show you this super cute necklace Shelley Haganman sent me for my birthday. She makes the cutest flair buttons. The flair buttons for the necklace are magnetic so I can put which ever button I feel like wearing at the moment. And I must say I do think it is all about keeping calm and glittering on. I find the glitter part easier than the calm part though… gotta be honest. If you’re not familiar with Shelley’s etsy store “A Flair for Buttons” you really need to take a peek. It’s filled with lots of adorable flair buttons.

Ok off to mail some prizes and then head back into my studio to get some projects completed. I have 24 items that need to be finished ASAP for a really super amazing exciting venture I have ahead of me. I so cannot wait to talk about this one. It makes me squeal and do the happy dance all at the same time. And friends that is a sight for sore eyes, just saying. :)

Hugs!

The last day of CHA-W, I showed lots of people how to create this super cute flower pin. You use about 12″ of Maya Road Satin Pleat Trim, 12″ of Maya Road Pleated Tulle and a Maya Road Antique Jewel Button for the center. To create the flower all you do is attach the pleated tulle on top of the satin pleat using Fabri-Tac adhesive at the sewn edge of each piece of trim. Then starting at one end loosely begin rolling the two trims until you get to the opposite end. Next, apply Fabri-Tac to a punched patterned paper circle and attach the bottom end (sewn edging) of the rolled trims to the punched circle, let the trims spread out a bit to resemble a rose. Then using a hot glue gun, attach an antique jewel button to the center of the flower as shown above. Using a hot glue gun attach a pin back to the back of the patterned paper circle.

Now for the fun part… post a comment to this blog post naming your favorite Maya Road Ribbons or Trims and I’ll give away one mini kit to one lucky winner to re-create this flower make n take.

And don’t forget to leave a comment on this previous POST ~ Celebrating 45 Years for a chance to win a pair of my favorite scissors, Fiskars Micro-Tip No. 5 Scissors. Two lucky winners will be picked from the comments left on the Celebrating 45 Years blog post. I love, love, love these scissors and was so fortunate to have Fiskars once again as a book sponsor for Delight In The Seasons.

Good luck … there will be three lucky winners announced, Friday… 1 for the Maya Road Make n Take and 2 for a pair of awesome Fiskars Micro-Tip Scissors.

Hugs!

Kristii Lockart, Richard Spinney liked this post

While we were getting the booth ready for day one, Emily Pitts was given the task of assembling a wall of flowers on the end of one of the display walls. She worked and worked and worked attaching small pieces of Velcro to the back of zipper flowers, ribbon blossoms and other small handmade flowers created from lots of Maya Road trims. This floral arrangement was very popular and photographed many times during the show.

Here is Emily hard at work arranging each handmade flower along the wall.

Maya Road Wood Mini Butterflies were placed among the flowers to look as though they were fluttering among the flowers. Each butterfly had Red Heart Pin antennas.

And here is Emily’s completed floral masterpiece. If you look closely you can see Maya Road Canvas Butterflies that have been dyed using Maya Mist. Lots of different Maya Road Trims were used such as their amazing Zipper Trims, their New Pleated Gauze, Khaki Frayed Edge Pleated Trims ‚Vintage Measuring Tape Trims and their Soft Vintage Scallop Trim, some Tulle Pleat and Satin Edging Trims and adorable cabbage roses created out of natural muslin and dyed using Maya Mist.
