Make n Take Giveaway

The last day of CHA-W, I showed lots of people how to create this super cute flower pin. You use about 12″ of Maya Road Satin Pleat Trim, 12″ of Maya Road Pleated Tulle and a Maya Road Antique Jewel Button for the center. To create the flower all you do is attach the pleated tulle on top of the satin pleat using Fabri-Tac adhesive at the sewn edge of each piece of trim. Then starting at one end loosely begin rolling the two trims until you get to the opposite end. Next, apply Fabri-Tac to a punched patterned paper circle and attach the bottom end (sewn edging) of the rolled trims to the punched circle, let the trims spread out a bit to resemble a rose. Then using a hot glue gun, attach an antique jewel button to the center of the flower as shown above. Using a hot glue gun attach a pin back to the back of the patterned paper circle.

Flower Wall

Since I passed out each night before getting a blog post completed during CHA, I thought it would still be fun to tell you about the show and share photos. While we were getting the booth ready for day one, Emily Pitts was given the task of assembling a wall of flowers on the end of one of the display walls. She worked and worked and worked attaching small pieces of Velcro to the back of zipper flowers, ribbon blossoms and other small handmade flowers created from lots of Maya Road trims. This floral arrangement was very popular and photographed many times during the show.

Here is Emily hard at work arranging each handmade flower along the wall.

Maya Road Wood Mini Butterflies were placed among the flowers to look as though they were fluttering among the flowers. Each butterfly had Red Heart Pin antennas.

And here is Emily’s completed floral masterpiece. If you look closely you can see Maya Road Canvas Butterflies that have been dyed using Maya Mist. Lots of different Maya Road Trims were used such as their amazing Zipper Trims, their New Pleated Gauze, Khaki Frayed Edge Pleated Trims ‚Vintage Measuring Tape Trims and their Soft Vintage Scallop Trim, some Tulle Pleat and Satin Edging Trims and adorable cabbage roses created out of natural muslin and dyed using Maya Mist.

Here you can see flowers made from Zipper Trims, Vintage Measuring Tape, Khaki Frayed Edge Pleated Trim, Muslin Cabbage Roses Dyed using Maya Mist and a little Wooden Mini Butterfly.

These flowers and blossoms are made from Pleated Tulle, Zipper Trims, Pleated Gauze, Soft Vintage Scallop Trim and Vintage Tape Measure Trim.

And in this last photo you can see lots of Zipper Flowers a Wooden Mini Butterfly and a Canvas Butterfly. This floral arrangement really was so fun to look at and was certainly enjoyed by many.

The Oh So Non-Glamorous Side of CHA

I thought I would share with you some of the photos Caroline, David and I took while we were all setting up the Maya Road booth for CHA-W. It’s amazing how it takes 2 days to set up and only 5 hours and 20 minutes to break it all down, re-pack panels, shelves, signs and product as well as repack all the design team projects and get everything back in the crates ready to ship back to the warehouse. It’s crazy!!!

First you start with a few handfuls of these and a nice cold Diet Coke

Then we start putting down the flooring (Ronda, Laura & Emily)

After the flooring is down we start building the walls (Ronda, Laura & David)

While putting up the walls we dodge forklifts and trees (not kidding the proof is in the photo)

After the walls are up we start emptying the crates.
As you can see the tallest one (Laura) gets to crawl in and hand out boxes.

Once the walls are built, next comes all the awesome Maya Road products… and their are LOTS! Chipboard Albums, Trinkets, Metal, Blossoms, Ribbons and Trims, Kraft, Mini Chipboard Sets, Chipboard Sets, Chipboard Coasters, Clear Stamps, Glitter, Maya Mists, Ink Pads, Canvas, Wood, Transparencies, Microfelts, Acrylic Albums, Keychains, Stands and Sets, Rubons, Sheer Sets and Albums

and more product… Laura is working on the ribbon wall… one year I was given that task and lets just say… I was never given that task again… oh my goodness.

Maya Road DT Member Canvases

I always find it fun to see what members of the Maya Road Design Team create when given the same challenge. Each CHA-W Caroline gives the DT members a blank canvas and tells us to alter it as we want, she only requires that we stay true to our style and include any Maya Road products we want… it is such a fun challenge. During CHA I took photos of each DT member’s canvas so I could share… I hope you’re ready for some amazing inspiration because this post is filled with LOTS!

Looking at all of these makes me want to get right in my scraproom and start creating. But before I can do any creating I must clean up the mess I made creating all my CHA projects. Ugh, cleaning is so not fun.

Coming out of my CHA fog

I have to say, this has been the most exhausting CHA I’ve ever attended. I had the best of intentions to post each evening I got back to my room about the days happening but each night, I was in bed asleep 30 minutes after I returned to my room. It was go, go, go, go every second of every day. And I have the aching feet to prove it. My goodness my feet have never hurt so much. But my book signings and demo were great, the Maya Road make-n-take table was super busy and super popular, people I chatted with about my stamp sets liked seeing the Antiquated Collection Stamp line up close and in person and I just might have a really cool venture to share in the months to come… fingers crossed super, super tight. Waiting is always so hard.

Okay, now let me show you four super cute projects created by some Maya Road of the design team. The projects the team created for this show were so incredible… I mean jaw dropping awesome!

CHA~W Day 2

It was CRAZY at the Maya Road make n take table today… crazy, crazy, crazy. But I love reconnecting with people from all over the world each year. This is certainly a wonderful bonus by being in this industry. And since I’ve done make n takes for Maya Road since 2007 (cannot BELIEVE it has been this long) I’ve been able to keep in touch with so many awesome people.

Tomorrow is going to be a super busy day. I have two book signings, a demo and more awesome Maya Road make n takes.

Ranger’s Designer Challenge

I was so excited to be asked to participate in their Designer Challenge. They sent each designer a blank paper mache dress form to alter any way we wanted. All they asked was that we stayed true to our style and used any or all three of these items Stickles, Liquid Pearls and/or Crackle Accents.

Day 1 of Set Up

Today, we will have the Maya Road booth completed and all ready for Opening Day. With all the team work that was going on the booth is now 80% complete. I think this is a record for day one of set up. It all went far too smoothly if you ask me… kinda makes me nervous. We started unpacking some of the design team projects and oh my goodness are you all going to LOVE their projects. I do believe the design team out did themselves this show. AMAZING stuff was created for the show.

I thought I would share some behind the scene (hope you don’t mind me using that saying Mario) type photos so you can kinda see what it is like preparing for the show. Set up days are not glamorous one teeny tiny bit.

Ronda, Laura and Emily putting down the flooring. Once the flooring is all down, then comes the building of the walls.

Once the walls are all put up comes the organized chaos… all the hooks and shelves are hung then all the awesome Maya Road products gets put out.

Grab bag type goody bags are filled and tied just waiting for their recipients.

Here are the Antiquated Collection sell sheets Darcy and Judi worked so hard putting together. Inside they even show photos of my Spring Release stamp sets. I will be passing these out during my book signing and when I’m walking the floor.

And Darcy sent me some Antiquated Collection stamp sets as well as one of their adorable Pink Persimmon stamp sets to give away at the show. Make sure you follow me on Twitter so you can have a chance to win a stamp set of your choice. I’ll be tweeting hints to where I am while walking the show floor. Olivia Dylan Pace

I’m so happy to share the newest addition to the Pace family. My niece, Olivia Dylan Pace was born January 25th. She weighed in at 7 lbs. 2 oz. and is doing great. Olivia is the first child born to my brother-in-law Douglas and his wife Karen. They live out of state so it is pure torture not being able to snuggle on her. Nothing sweeter than a new born baby.

Olivia and her daddy. As you can see by his expression… Olivia already has her daddy wrapped around her finger.

This photo of Karen and Olivia looks like the Norman Rockwell of all mommy and baby photos, there is such sweet honest emotion between a mom and her newborn baby. You can see the love in Karen’s face for her daughter, just hours old.

I’m thrilled to have a sweet little niece to love and spoil and eagerly look forward to new photos and videos.

On My Way to CHA

But first one last sneak peek before I go…

This is a cuff I created using the new Maya Road Cream Soft Vintage Scallop Trim, their Small Organza Grey Roses Ribbon, the new Antique Pearl Center Flowers and one of their Cream Winter’s Roses accented with an Antique Jewel Button center.

Now back to last minute packing, checking, double checking and triple checking my list of things to bring. I love the hustle and bustle of CHA. And I’m so fortunate to get to work with a great group of people at Maya Road. It’s hard to believe I’ve been with them since 2007. Seems just like yesterday that I tried out for the design team. Lots of great things have happened since I became a Roadie. So come see us in booth #1793 as I will be showing you how to recreate these cute make n takes Caroline designed. Each day we’ll create a different one.
